First Baltica 2 suspended internal platforms loaded out

2026/05/20

In May, Smulders successfully performed the first load-out of the suspended internal platforms for the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm. The units are shipped from the assembly yard in Świnoujście (Poland) to their installation location in the Polish Baltic Sea.

As part of the contract awarded by PGE and Ørsted, we are responsible for the manufacturing and assembly of suspended internal platform (SIP) cages. We produce these components at Smulders Projects Poland in Żary and assemble them at the Polish Offshore Wind Terminal in Świnoujście. Once installed inside the monopile foundations, the platforms will provide safe access for inspection, maintenance, and operational activities.

Thanks to this project, we can proudly contribute to local content in Poland. By combining Polish fabrication, assembly, and port activities, we actively support the local supply chain, shape the industry and build long-term offshore wind expertise in Poland.

Baltica 2, jointly developed by PGE and Ørsted, is by capacity the largest offshore wind farm under construction in Poland. Located around 40 km off the Polish coast near Ustka, the project will feature 107 turbines with a total capacity of 1.5 GW, enough to provide approximately 2.4 million households with green energy.

With this first load-out safely achieved, we can look back to successful cooperation between our project teams, our clients and our suppliers, bringing us one step closer to a more sustainable future.
