He Dreiht
EnBW
North Sea, Germany
The He Dreiht Offshore Wind Farm is a grand project of EnBW in the German North Sea, situated around 90 km northwest of Borkum island. Smulders fabricated the 64 transition pieces (TPs) for this project in a joint venture with Sif.
We fabricated the secondary steel at our yards in Poland and Belgium. We assembled the TPs at our yards in Hoboken (Belgium) and Newcastle (UK), the latter also being the location for the load outs. Early June 2024, we transported our last TP to Eemshaven, the last stop before offshore installation.
Construction at sea took place in the summer of 2024 and the complete wind farm should be ready for inauguration by the end of 2025. The turbines will generate 960 MW, enough to power up to 1.1 million houses.
