Bałtyk 2 & 3

Equinor - Polenergia

Baltic Sea, Poland

Equinor and Polenergia owned joint venture companies leading the development of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, located in the Baltic Sea, contracted the consortium of Smulders and Sif for the manufacturing of 100 transition pieces for both projects.

Smulders and Sif collaborated on the fabrication, including design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning. Sif manufactured the primary steel tubulars, including flanges, at its facility in Roermond, the Netherlands. We handled the secondary steel scope, coating, electrical system and testing and commissioning. The secondary steel was produced by our facilities in Poland. Final assembly takes place at our yard in Hoboken, Belgium.

In October 2025, the first TPs were completed, after which we shipped them to our site in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, for storage. The load-out phase in Vlissingen began in April 2026. The last sail-away of the TPs to their offshore installation site took place in August 2026.

Bałtyk 2 & 3 are two separate projects with a planned installed capacity of 720 MW each (jointly 1440 MW). The offshore wind farms will be installed in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea and are located approximately 37 km (Bałtyk 2) and 22 km (Bałtyk 3) off the Polish coast. Upon completion, the combined wind farms will supply up to two million households with green energy.

Smulders was also awarded the contract for the design, procurement and construction of both offshore substations.
