Bałtyk 2 & 3 substation jackets sail away from Newcastle

2026/07/31
The Bałtyk 2 & Bałtyk 3 substation jackets have safely left the Smulders yard in Newcastle and are now on their way to the Baltic Sea. This sail-away marks another important milestone in the development of two of Poland’s major offshore wind projects.

Bałtyk 2 & 3 are being developed by Equinor and Polenergia. Together, the wind farms will deliver a total capacity of 1,440 MW, enough to provide renewable electricity to around two million Polish households.

For us, the departure of both jackets is the result of close collaboration between teams. The structures were fabricated and prepared across several Smulders sites before leaving Newcastle for the next phase: offshore installation.

With this milestone, we continue to contribute to the energy infrastructure of the future, and to the further development of offshore wind in Europe.
