In Hoboken, next to the Scheldt, Smulders has a unique production site. Since 2001, the former shipyard is used, amongst others, for the production of steel foundations for offshore windmills.
As a pioneer in the market, Smulders started in 2001 in Hoboken with the production of transition pieces for the first offshore wind farm worldwide: Horns Rev. Over the years, Smulders has evolved to market leader with a track record of over 1,500 transition pieces and 100 jackets.
The site in Hoboken covers 130,000 m² and has 2 production halls with a total surface of 30,000 m². Thanks to the gantry crane, we can up to 560 tonnes (excl. hoisting material) covering a surface of 60,000 m² . Because of its ideal location next to the Scheldt, finished products can be transported easily to their next destination.
