Topside Hollandse Kust (west Beta) successfully installed
The topside for the offshore transformer platform Hollandse Kust (west Beta) was successfully installed on Wednesday morning, approximately 50 kilometres off the coast of Egmond aan Zee. This milestone brings the completion of the third and final 700 MW platform - built by Smulders and Equans BeLux for TenneT - within reach.
Over the weekend, the topside left the Equans yard in Hoboken on a floating pontoon and was towed via the Scheldt River into Dutch waters. For the installation, the heavy-lift vessel Sleipnir from Heerema Marine Contractors was called in.
After detachment, the crane vessel lifted the topside into the air. The pontoon was then towed away, and Sleipnir carefully navigated 500 metres towards the jacket foundation. The jacket is equipped with so-called ‘cones’ - inverted ice cream cone-like structures - allowing for the precise positioning of the topside without extensive measurements.
