Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm | OHVS

For Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm we built not only 90 transition pieces but also 2 offshore transformer modules® commissioned by Siemens, new types of substations with associated challenges and milestones.

OTM is a Siemens brand name, and stands for an unmanned substation with minimal necessities. It is significantly smaller and lighter than a normal substation. We manufactured 2 for the 857 MW Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm, together with our partner Engie Fabricom (now Engie Solutions). These OTMs form an essential part of the wind farm. They stabilise and maximise the voltage of the electricity collected offshore before it goes ashore. Each OTM weighs approximately 1,400 tons, is 32 m wide, 28 m long and 20 m high. Both OTMs were successfully installed in 2020 on a monopile foundation, of which some 16 metres below sea level.
